Dr. Hoffer graduated MIT and Harvard Medical School and did his residency and fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He combined a private practice of Cardiology and Internal Medicine with cutting-edge research on the use of computers in medicine. He continues to work half-time at the MGH Lab of Computer Science on using AI to help doctors make more accurate diagnoses. He has spoken to medical audiences on diagnostic error and medical uses of artificial intelligence and blogs regularly on medical issues.
