Library of Things
What is the Library of Things?
The Library of Things is a collection of nontraditional items that can be borrowed for one week. It supplements other items in our collection and supports a sharing economy that creates less waste. “Don’t buy – borrow!”
How do I borrow a Thing?
The Library of Things is open to everyone. If you’d like to check out an item, all you need is a CLAMS card in good standing. All things can be borrowed for one week; they cannot be requested for delivery or returned to alternate locations. Games are now available to request in our software (immediately below); a further list of Things is at the bottom of this page.
What Things are available?
Things that are not Games, and their availability, are still listed in the library catalog. They include:
- Sewing machine
- Bike lock
- Bike pump
- Home energy kit
- Trash grabber/reach tools
- Metal detector
- Trekking poles
- Microscope
- Kodak digital film scanner
- Video to digital converter
- Portable CD player
- Portable DVD player
- Home DVD player
- Bicycle lock
More Things are being added all the time! Come on in and check one out!
If you like the idea of borrowing non-traditional library Things, you might also be interested in:
- Book Club Kits
- Museum Passes
- Technology (chromebooks and wifi hotspots).
The Library of Things is funded by the generous support of the Friends of the Falmouth Public Library.
