Library of Things
What is the Library of Things?
The Library of Things is a collection of nontraditional items that can be borrowed for one week. It supplements other items in our collection and supports a sharing economy that creates less waste. “Don’t buy – borrow!”
How do I borrow a Thing?
The Library of Things is open to everyone. If you’d like to check out an item, all you need is a CLAMS card in good standing. All things can be borrowed for one week; they cannot be placed on hold or returned to alternate locations.
What Things are available?
All our Things, and their availability, are listed in CLAMS. They include:
- A sewing machine.
- A bike lock.
- Trash grabber/reach tools.
- Trekking poles.
- A microscope.
More Things are being added all the time!
If you like the idea of borrowing non-traditional library Things, you might also be interested in:
- Book Club Kits
- Museum Passes
- Technology (chromebooks and wifi hotspots).
- Library Lawn Games (coming soon!)
The Library of Things is funded by the generous support of the Friends of the Falmouth Public Library.
