Are you or someone you know looking for financial aid to help defray the cost of attending college next fall? Applications for three scholarships are now available at the reference desk at the Falmouth Public Library:
First Citizens’ Federal Credit Union: offers two scholarships, see below
Barbara Whitehead Silva Scholarship
“This ($1,000) scholarship is offered in honor of the dedicated years of service of Mrs. Barbara Silva, former President/CEO, who retired from First Citizens’ after being with the credit union for 45 years.”
Champion Family Scholarship Fund
To thank or everyday champions for the service they provide our communities, the First Citizens’ Champion accounts are exclusive to EMT’s, firefighters, teachers, police officers and healthcare professionals. These two $1,000 scholarships are available to high school seniors who are immediate family members of Champion checking account holders.”
Eligibility: applicant or parent must be a member of First Citizens’
Deadline: April 1, 2013
Falmouth Beautification Council
“Our Scholarship Program will assist Falmouth residents in their studies of Botany, Environmental Science, Forestry, Horticulture, Landscape Design, or related fields.
Whether you are just beginning or continuing a program of post-secondary or graduate studies, you are encouraged to apply for the $1,500 scholarships the Council is making available for the Academic year 2013-1014. Having won a previous scholarship does not prevent you from applying again.”
Deadline: April 5, 2013
In addition to the local scholarship applications you can find several books (some are for use in the library only) flyers from the federal government about financial aid and a database that lists Massachusetts organizations that provide grants and scholarships to individuals and groups. Please ask a reference librarian for more information about our financial aid resources.
