I have breaking news on the Moby-Dick front. As the Jaws line used to say ... “just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water” ... Moby returns to Falmouth! Nathaniel Philbrick has written a new book called Why Read Moby-Dick? and he will be here on Wednesday, October 26th at 7:00 p.m. to talk about his new book! As many of you may remember, Moby-Dick was our town wide read in 2010, and Nathaniel Philbrick was one of our keynote speakers. I like to think he was inspired to write this book after watching us read the book!! We can ask him at the end of October!
Here’s what Library Journal has to say:
“So you liked Philbrick’s In the Heart of the Sea, which re-created the wreck of the whaleship Essex, inspiration for Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick? Then you’ll love Philbrick’s new book, which vivifies Melville’s classic for modern readers. From a wonderful and knowing writer who’s also founding director of the Egan Maritime Institute on Nantucket. I really want to read; with a four-city tour.”
That will now be a FIVE-city tour!!
