Mad Libs May!

image

The month of May is quickly approaching, and the Children’s Department has declared this next month Mad Libs May! Every Saturday in May you can visit us in the Children’s Room and write a Mad Lib. What’s a Mad Lib you ask? It’s a story written with blanks at various points that you fill in with random words. It can lead to very silly, sometimes hilarious results. This is an activity that can be played alone or with a group. The stories will prompt you to fill in with a noun, verb, adjective, etc… The Children’s Department has some wonderful books that will be displayed with the Mad Libs with titles such as To Root, to Toot, to Parachute: what is a verb? and Hairy, Scary, Ordinary: what is an adjective? by Brian Cleary.  Just one request from the staff- when you’re enjoying the end result of a well-written Mad Lib, please read it loud enough so the librarians can enjoy it too!
