Library Puts “Life” On Shelf …

“… Trustees Restrict Reading To Adults After Children Gather At Magazine Table” ... just another headline that we have uncovered as we peruse the brand new digital archive of the Falmouth Enterprise and the Falmouth Annual Town Reports. The story begins: “The Falmouth public library copy of last weeks Life has been withdrawn from circulation. By order of the trustees the magazine with the pictures ‘Birth of a Baby’ has been placed behind the librarian’s desk, where it may be obtained from the librarian at her discretion. Instruction of the trustees is that Miss Cecelia L. Bowerman, the librarian, and her assistant, Mrs. Dora K. Harris, will give out the publication only to adults.”

From the April 14, 1938 Falmouth Enterprise.
