This week the Falmouth Public Library Fiction Book Club is beginning a new six months series of novels centering around the theme of divorces and weddings. Our six novels will be: The Wedding by Dorothy West, The Custom of the Country by Edith Wharton, A Wedding in December by Anita Shreve, Larry’s Party by Carol Shields, A Spot of Bother by Mark Haddon, and The Sportswriter by Richard Ford.
As the days grow shorter, we hope you’ll consider picking up a book, and joining us for the discussion. We meet the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 PM and the following Thursday at 10:00 AM. Our goal is to have you leave the discussion feeling that you understand the book better than when you arrived.
And if you’re interested in good books for your book club, you might want to tune into The Point with Mindy Todd on Wednesday, September 25th. Join Mindy Todd, Melanie Lauwers (Cape Cod Times Book Editor), and Jill Erickson (Head of Reference & Adult Services) on WCAI with their book suggestions! The topic will be books that are great reads for your book club, as well as some hints on running a book club. You can call in with your suggestions at 866-999-4626 or e-mail . Repeated at 7:00 PM or listen online at http://www.capeandislands.org.
