Farewell Gary.

There is sad news to report this week at Falmouth Public Library. It is the last week that Gary Ingraham, our Information Technology Librarian, will be working at the library. The good news for him is that his wife has a great new job, the bad news is that the job is out of state. It is hard to express how much we will miss his good humor, ability to troubleshoot, and incredible patience. Many of you may have met Gary when you had a computer problem in the building, or he taught you how to use Overdrive on your Nook or your iPad. We have had the amazing good fortune of having him be part of the public library team for about two and a half years. He had guided us through many a technology snafu.

The first day Gary started I knew he could perform computer miracles. He performed one that day, and has been pretty much keeping up a string of computer miracles every week he has been here. His patience and understanding with library patrons has been an inspiration to the entire staff. In fact, I’d say that every staff member could write a blog this week about how Gary had helped them in their job. If you have a Gary story, we’d love it if you would share it by leaving a comment on our blog. And if you happen to be in this week, be sure to say goodbye. He truly is irreplaceable, and will be greatly missed.

Gary is so special because he is the rare person who knows “libraryspeak”, “techspeak” and plain old English!  He has solved many technical difficulties for the staff and patrons with a wave of his magic wand and easy explanations.  They don’t make many like Gary!  We will miss him greatly!

Jill -
A sad week indeed! It has been wonderful having Gary here and he will be sorely missed by all of us.  Gary - as Tina Turner would sing out - YOU’RE SIMPLY THE BEST! Happiness & great success in your family’s next chapter.

Well, Gary, wishing you the best of luck in your new home, new job & new life in PA. I may never forgive Stop & Shop!

Will certainly miss that wry smile, the miracle magic you always calmly worked not only on the computers (or anything else that plugged in!) but also on difficult patrons & the occasional(?) demanding colleague!

So sorry am unable to share in the farewell party but am sure you’re glad I’m not sharing the shingles!

Thank you for all your good work & patience with all of us.

Here’s a hug and a teary goodbye!

Thank you so much for this blog post and your kind words to Gary!  I am very proud of him and his accomplishments at the library.  I am sad to pull him from a job that he likes as much as the library staff and patrons like him.  We are on to the next chapter in our lives and eager to see what unfolds.

All the best to all of you!
Jan Ingraham (Gary’s Wife)
