Beach Reads, Part Two, on The Point

We were lucky enough to have a special guest start on this morning’s edition of The Point with Mindy Todd. The topic was summer reads, and who better to talk about summer reads than David Ulin, editor of the recently released Cape Cod Noir. If you missed it, it will be repeated at 7:30 tonight, and there is also an online podcast.

David Ulin’s Picks

Cape Cod Noir edited by David Ulin
Stolen Pleasures: Selected Stories of Gina Berriault (to be published in July by Counterpoint Press)
Millennium People by J. G. Ballard
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
The Rolling Stones: Exile on Main Street by Bill Janowitz (Part of a series of books written about music albums, featuring one author per album. Published by Continuum Books.)
New Grub Street by George Gissing

David also mentioned a magazine I hadn’t realized had returned to life, which we’ll have to add to the library collection! As Magazines for Libraries wrote: “The venerable The Strand Magazine is back and better than ever. Each issue ... delivers gripping tales of mystery and suspense in a variety of settings by some of today’s leading mystery writers.”
