For those of you who enjoyed the 100 Must-Read books on the Reference Desk this summer, this is to let you know that we now have a set that you can check out! The 100 Must-Read books are tiny books packed full of great suggestions for reading. The 100 Must-Read volumes include:
Books for Men
Each volume has a pithy introduction to the topic. The 100 Must-Read Crime Novels volume, for example, suggests that it was Edgar Allan Poe, Wilkie Collins, and Emile Gaboriau who “created templates in crime fiction which have lasted to the present day.”
And as a bonus there is the Bloomsbury Good Reading Guide! Here is how the publisher describes it:
“Deciding what to read next when you’ve just finished an unputdownable novel can be daunting. The Bloomsbury Good Reading Guide features hundreds of authors and thousands of titles, with navigation features to lead you on a rich journey through some of the best literature of past and present. This greatly expanded edition features 40 new entries for contemporary novelists from Monica Ali and Anne Enright to Jonathan Franzen and Jodi Picoult. It also includes many more non-fiction writers than before, new sections including ‘New Writers to Watch’ and ‘Forgotten Classics’ and major revisions to existing entries. An accessible and authoritative guide that no serious book lover should be without.”
