One rarely heard of is ‘DaVinci’s Kitchen’, by Dave DeWitt. Published in 2006 by BenBella books, the sub-title is ‘A Secret History of Italian Cooking’. This is an interesting read but for recipes you are better off with Craig Claiborne.

Domesticity, a Gastronomic Interpretation of Love by Bob Shacochis is a wonderful paean to relationships and food, particularly that of the coastal south. Never Nosh a Matzoh Ball and others in that series by Sharon Kahn are excellent examples of food related comic romantic mystery novels.
