Falmouth Public Library is a Regional Reference and Research Center for member libraries of the SouthEastern Massachusetts Library System. When a member library has exhausted local resources, it may contact Falmouth for back-up reference. SEMLS member libraries may call,  e-mail, or fax the Falmouth reference department as well as refer patrons to Falmouth for direct telephone or on-site assistance. A toll-free phone line is available for member libraries.

As a Regional Reference and Research Center we provide trained professional staff to assist in answering questions or offering an appropriate referral. Please identify yourself as a library staff member when calling, and communicate any time constraints connected with your inquiry. If sending a patron to a Regional Reference and Research Center for material, kindly call ahead to be certain the material is available.

Member libraries are encouraged to call or visit Falmouth Public Library at any time to consult us about reference sources and policies or to examine our reference collection. Our reference librarians are happy to conduct tours of our department for member libraries upon request.
