Computer and Internet Use

The Falmouth Public Library has desktop computers and laptop computers for word processing and Internet access. Black and white printing is available from all computers. Printing from our computers costs twenty cents a page. The East Falmouth Branch also has a computers for word processing and Internet access, and printing is available.

Some computers are used for CLAMS catalog and online database searching only. Other computers have time limits for Internet access. 

Wireless access to the Internet is available throughout the building, and on most of the Library grounds.

Internet Instruction
Phone reservations may be made for one-on-one Internet instruction. We do require that you know how to use a mouse before signing up. Please call the Reference Desk to schedule instruction:  (508)457-2555.

Internet Policy

In response to advances in technology and the changing needs of the community, the Falmouth Public Library endeavors to develop collections, resources, and services that meet the informational, educational, cultural, and recreational needs of Falmouth's diverse, multicultural community.  

The Falmouth Public Library does not monitor and has no control over the information accessed through the Internet and cannot be held responsible for its content.  As with other library materials, restriction of a child's access to the Internet is the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian.

Acceptable Use of Internet and Computer Workstations:
Rules and Guidelines

Individuals wishing to use the Internet workstations must agree to adhere to the Falmouth Public Library Internet Policy above, and the following Acceptable Use Rules. 

  1. The Internet workstation must be used in a responsible manner, respecting the rights of others, and being careful with the equipment. Computer and Internet settings may not be changed.
  2. Downloading is not permitted on any library computer.
  3. The workstations may not be used for illegal activity or to place any material on the Internet related to criminal activity, or to engage in any activity, which is deliberately and maliciously offensive, libelous or slanderous. Illegal acts involving library resources may be subject to prosecution by local, state or federal officials.
  4. Please be aware that some material on the Internet and World Wide Web is copyrighted. It is your responsibility to be aware of and respect notices of copyrighted information and to respect the copyright laws of the United States.
  5. The Town of Falmouth is committed to providing an environment free from sexual harassment. Do not display on screens and/or printers materials which may be objectionable.
  6. Users assume full liability, legal, financial or otherwise for their actions.
  7. Misuse of the computer or Internet access will result in loss of your library privileges. The Library reserves the right to terminate an Internet session at any time.
