In celebration of the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrim’s crossing, the 2020 Falmouth Reads Together selection is Mayflower: a Story of Courage, Community, and War by Nathaniel Philbrick. Planned events include a visit by the author!
Wednesdays, April 1st, 8th, 15th, & 22nd 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm One hour lectures covering different topics related to the Mayflower by members of the Falmouth Genealogical Society. Hermann Room, Falmouth Public Library. This will be part of our Joy of Learning series, registration information will follow at a later date.
Wednesday, April 15th @ 3:00 pm The Pilgrims – a documentary film by Ric Burns (2015) [2 hours] Hermann Room at the Falmouth Public Library
Wednesday, April 22nd @ 3:00 am Desperate Crossing – the True Story of the Mayflower, a (2007) documentary film [2 hours 28 minutes] Hermann Room at the Falmouth Public Library
Wednesday, April 29th at 7:00 pm Tom Bott, a Mayflower Ship’s Guide will discuss the Mayflower replica and the experience of those traveling across the ocean onboard. Hermann Room at the Falmouth Public Library.
Wednesday, May 6th @ 7:00 pm – Nathaniel Philbrick will speak at the Lawrence Auditorium sponsored jointly by Falmouth Reads Together and the Falmouth Historical Society [please note: this event is being held at the Lawrence School Auditorium].
Teens are encouraged to read The Mayflower and the Pilgrim’s New World. This book was adapted specifically for younger readers.
