The Falmouth Public Library is pleased to host “Bronx Jazz” on Saturday, November 9 at 3:30 pm! This free event will be at the main branch at 300 Main Street.
“Bronx Jazz” is a performance piece combining theater, story-telling and poetry with live jazz and hip-hop. It is written and performed by the father-son duo of Mwalim & ZYG 808, and developed by the Oversoul Theatre Collective.
The ZYG 808 is a 2-time Grammy nominated hip-hop jazz artist, and an accomplished jazz drummer, songwriter, MC, and vibraphonist who headlined the Boston Jazz Fest at age 11. His upcoming mixtape/album “BooMBAPJAzz” features his musical prowess as well as his skills in production and will be released on his own label, Soul Poets Records. Mwalim is a seasoned artist with a long resume and a new novel coming out in February entitled, Land of the Black Squirrels, which will be book one of a series called the “Bronx Boheme”.
Oversoul Theatre Collective (OTC) is a 25 year-old, non-profit, professional performing and media arts organization, with a focus on developing and presenting high quality works, primarily by and about Black and Native American people.
This presentation is made possible through grants from the Falmouth Cultural Council and the Osborne Foundation.
