Stop by the library ASAP so as not to miss the artwork hanging in the teen room and in the Katharine Lee Bates lobby case created by students from Falmouth High School! The art is all inspired by poetry as part of our town wide reading of poetry. The paintings in the teen room are all responses to Elizabeth Alexander’s poem “Praise Song for the Day” composed and delivered at President Barack Obama’s inauguration at the United States Capitol on January, 20, 2009. She is the fourth poet in history to be so honored.
The pottery in the library was inspired by poems by Aeneid, Shel Silverstein, Mary Fumento and Robert Frost. You can take a look at all the art on our flickr page. And don’t forget that those potters are having a fundraiser on Thursday night.
