The warm weather is here! It is a great time for grilling, adding fresh, seasonal produce to your menu and kicking back with a cold drink or frozen treat! Tired of the same old hot dogs, hamburgers and ice cream cones? We have cookbooks galore in the adult collection room (call number 641) and look for the B-B-Q book display on the mantel near the circulation desk. (FYI: You can always check out books on display.) In addition, we have not one or two, but seven cooking magazines in the reading room with mouthwatering pictures and delicious recipes to inspire you. In alpha-order, they are: …
Bon Appétit: America’s Food and Entertaining Magazine
Bon Appétit is probably the most popular food and lifestyle magazine. Its emphasis on healthy recipes, entertaining, travel, product reviews and kitchen design give it a broad scope and the high quality in all departments, give it a loyal following. The R.S.V.P. section, in which readers can request the recipe for a dish they discovered at a restaurant, is a perennial favorite.

It has been referred to as the Consumer Reports of cooking magazines because of its extensive testing of cookware products and foods. Instructions are clear, easy to follow and focus on the how and why recipes work.

Features gourmet recipes paired with wine, beer and cocktails. A second focus on entertaining and food related travel destinations, assumes an upper crust audience.
Published in partnership with the Food Network on TV, this magazine features celebrity chefs from the TV programs and their gourmet dishes. The illustrated recipe index is very handy.
