There was standing room only in Woods Hole for Christo at the Falmouth Forum last night. If you couldn’t make it or wanted to know more we have two books and a set of films for which you can put in a request. Christo and Jeanne-Claude : on the way to The Gates, Central Park, New York City, Christo, Surrounded Islands : Biscayne Bay, Greater Miami, Florida, 1980-83, and Five Films About Christo & Jeanne-Claude are all available to reserve at the Falmouth Public Library.
The films are particularly wonderful. We just showed all the films at the library last week, and the collection of 3 dvds is now available for circulation. Here is a description of the films:
“FIVE FILMS ABOUT CHRISTO & JEANNE-CLAUDE chronicles a 30-year collaboration between acclaimed documentary filmmakers Albert and his late brother David Maysles (GIMME SHELTER, SALESMAN, GREY GARDENS), and the internationally renowned environmental artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude. The Maysles Brothers, along with such frequent co-filmmakers as Charlotte Zwerin and Susan Froemke, have captured the artists’ enduring relationship and the grandeur of their large scale temporary public works. This series stands as a permanent document of the process, the political drama, the emotional investment and the transforming effect the finished works have on all those who come in contact with them.”
I know the library audience last week enjoyed the films very much. Just recently completed is Albert Maysles’ documentary of The Gates, which we don’t own yet, but I hope are able to purchase at some point in time.
