Buying an E-Reader?

All of a sudden the Holidays are upon us!  If you have been planning to give an E-reader to a loved one (or to yourself!), you may be feeling overwhelmed by the information glut and the hype.  E-books are in great demand, and we see more and more Library patrons who use the CLAMS Overdrive service.  As with physical books, most of us don’t want to buy and own every E-book we read!

We have links to information about the myriad reading devices through our website.  You can click on the links at the bottom of the CLAMS Search Screen, or just follow this link to the CLAMS Digital Media web page:
On that page you will find links to videos about the devices that may be used to download Overdrive books, as well as videos giving actual download help.
The CLAMS Digital Media page also links to sources of free downloads from the Library or Congress, Gutenberg project, several universities, and more. These sites offer older, but still important titles that are no longer under copyright.

This week’s E-newsletter from the America Library Association provided a really useful article (with NO sales pitches) on how to choose the right E-reader for your needs:

Best Wishes for Happy Reading in the New Year!
