Even though Baby Aurelia is only one month old today, she has her very own library card. Here she is with her family at the library as they read Olivia by Ian Falconer (Aurelia’s big sister’s name just happens to be Olivia, too!) Aurelia is the first baby to take advantage of the First Tales Early Literacy Program, sponsored by the Friends of the Falmouth Public Library and the Early Childhood Resource Center. After receiving a copy of Goodnight Moon when she was born at Falmouth Hospital, Aurelia was eligible to receive a limited edition FPL mermaid onesie as soon as her parents registered her for a library card, which they did!
Did you know that “early language and literacy (reading and writing) development begins in the first three years of life and is closely related to a child’s earliest experiences with books and stories?”
Hooray for Aurelia, our youngest library card holder, and Happy Birthday!
