A Seed Swap! Calling All Gardeners!

Recently in a favorite reference source, Chase’s Calendar of Events, I discovered that Sunday January 31 was National Seed Swap Day.

The germ of an idea sprouted! Perhaps we could have a Seed Swap area in the library where local gardeners could exchange seeds. Soon gardening books, several peat pots, a plant, garden gloves, some seed packets donated by Ace Hardware, handouts and a batch of envelopes blossomed into a Seed Swap!  It’s a no cost solution to enhance the selection of veggies & flowers in your garden.
Please stop by the library to see the Seed Swap area near the Playaways in the Adult Collection area.  Feel free to take a packet or two of seeds. If you don’t need or want the whole packet, there are envelopes and pens on hand. The plan is to have the Seed Swap displayed for the month of February.
The library has a huge number of gardening books, spend some time perusing the shelves at 635s. Look in the Reading Room area for these magazines on gardening:
Fine Gardening
Horticulture
Mother Earth News
Organic Gardening
People, Place and Plants
